Panchagavya is an organic formulation prepared using 5 ingredients from native Cow viz Cow’s milk, ghee, curd, urine and dung. At Sarvathmika we continue to prepare it in the traditional method using the above five ingredients.
Panchagavya plays the role of a growth promoter and immunity booster for plants. The solution once ready contains the
- Macro nutrients viz Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium.
- Micro nutrients which are needed for establishing good plant health and
- Growth hormones (IAA & GA) required for plant growth( as the name suggests!)
- Vitamins and microorganisms like Pseudomonas and Phosphor bacteria.
This solution can be given by drip irrigation, flow irrigation or through foliar spray. Of course it must be kept in mind to filter the sediments before introducing Panchagavya through drip or foliar spray.
Panchakavya
While given through soil input, it enhances soil fertility, improve the quantity of earthworms, and promote crop health by acting as an organic fertilizer. Spraying Panchagavya helps promote plant growth,it has been observed that the leaves are much bigger in size and healthier. The coating of Panchagavya prevents moisture evaporation through the leaves also. The fruits are larger in size.
Ensure spraying is done before 9am IST and/or after 4pm IST.
Spray system
3% solution was found to be most effective compared to the higher and lower concentrations. Three litres of Panchagavya to every 100 litres of water is ideal for all crops. When sprayed with sprayer, sediments need to be filtered.
Soil input
The solution of Panchagavya can be mixed with irrigation water at 50 litres per hectare either through drip irrigation or flow irrigation.
Seed/seedling treatment
3% solution of Panchagavya can be used to soak the seeds or dip the seedlings before planting. Soaking for 20 minutes is sufficient. Rhizomes of Turmeric, Ginger and sets of Sugarcane can be soaked for 30 minutes before planting.
Seed storage
3% of Panchagavya solution can be used to dip the seeds before drying and storing them.
